How to Look After Your Skin in 5 Easy Steps

You don’t need to spend hours every day caring for your skin in order for it to look and feel good. In fact, we’ve boiled skincare down to 5 steps for you, just to show you how easy it is.


Keeping your skin clean helps to prevent blemishes. But be careful not to overdo it: this will have the opposite effect. It’s important to use a product that is right for your skin type. If you have dry skin, for example, using a foaming cleanser will only dry it out more. When it comes to cleansers, no matter what type of skin you have, gentler is always better.


Applying toner helps to cleanse your pores and make them appear smaller, especially in the T-zone area of the skin. If you have oily skin, using toner can help to prevent blackheads and zits.


Moisturise immediately after cleansing and toning in order to keep your skin supple. Using the correct moisturiser is key. Find one that makes your skin feel nourished after application but not oily or shiny, and allow twenty minutes for the moisturiser to soak in before applying any other product.


Applying sunscreen is important, not only to prevent premature wrinkles and pigmentation, but also to guard against skin cancer. To apply it, dot the cream onto the skin first, spreading it evenly over your face. You can combine this into one step by finding a moisturiser that has at least an SPF 15 in it. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, however, it’s advisable to use a sunscreen with a higher SPF.


Using a face mask is a great way to give your skin an extra boost, and, if you have the time, doing this three to seven times a week really benefits the health and appearance of your skin. Again, you need to find masks that benefit your particular skin type. Masks that contain oatmeal and avocado extracts are very good for sensitive skin. For oily skins, masks that contain strawberry extract and honey are excellent at gently cleansing and detoxifying.

If you take fifteen minutes every day for your skincare routine, your skin will take care of you for the rest of your life. Putting in a little bit of time every day ensures that you’ll see results for a long time to come. It’s really that simple!
